Chocolate brown, butter yellow, berry red—hues that sound good enough to eat have a way of sneaking into our wardrobes each season. The edible shade taking over right now is autumnal olive green, as showcased by the Princess of Wales during a visit to Home-Start in Oxford. Dressed head-to-toe in a key shade of the season, Kate spoke with parents and volunteers at the centre while promoting a new initiative from her own Centre for Early Childhood, an animated film series designed to help families develop social and emotional skills.

Matching tailoring might sound prim and proper, but this was actually one of the more relaxed entries in the princess’s workwear repertoire: a softer, more approachable take on suiting that she’s been adopting recently. Since resuming her royal duties this year, Kate has frequently reached for a well-cut blazer worn with simple slim-fit trousers for engagements. Recent examples include the Bella Freud Prince of Wales check suit she wore for a trip to Marina Mill in Kent, or the emerald-green Veronica Beard suit she wore to launch the Early Childhood video project back in August.

The princess has also worn today’s Victoria Beckham tailoring before, to attend a British Fashion Council event back in May. That time, she styled it over a ruffled cream blouse, but in Oxford she leaned into colour blocking (as VB herself would), adding a simple round-neck tee in the same shade.
