In the fall of 2025, all of the it-girls look to be obsessed with a color straight out of the ’60s. So say hello to “boho blonde.”

Carefree and seemingly unkempt, the wheaten-toned locks of sixties icons are making a comeback on everyone from Margot Robbie to Sienna Miller. It’s in step with what we’ve already seen on the fall winter 2025 runways too, where a return to the billowing bohemian silhouettes, romantic crochet, and skin-flashing lace loomed large thanks to Chemena Kamali’s Chloé, Anthony Vaccarello at Saint Laurent, and Alessandro Michele’s Valentino vision. What makes sense, then, beauty-wise: smoky and smudgy brown eye makeup looks, rosy cheeks, and easy-breezy long lengths.

Below, a look at how you can do “boho blonde” your way.

How to do “boho blonde”

This season, “boho blonde” is the color to get acquainted with fast, a shade that hits the vintage vibe with contemporary confidence. It’s directly inspired by the ’60s, evoking a time when creative freedom, free-wheeling music and the counter-culture movement was dictating the style codes. The ambassadors of “boho blonde” included Marianne Faithfull, Jane Fonda, Edie Sedgwick, and Sharon Tate. Their hair had caramel, sand, and honey highlights, a washed-out blonde with a mix of both and warm undertones that gave it dimension and kept it low maintenance for styling. The coloring and placement is less perfect than the balayage; it’s a kind of blonde that looks accidentally sunkissed—like you’ve been loping around all day and caught the sun on your way somewhere cool—contrasted with slightly darker natural roots for a carefully grown-in effect.

The result: blonde hair as if left free after a summer by the sea, without a brush or any sense of restraint. “Boho blonde” doesn’t require meticulous maintenance. On the contrary, its visible roots and tonal variations make it a super easy style to see you through fall and winter.

How to wear “boho blonde” in 2025

“Boho blonde” is reinventing itself by moving away from the retro clichés. Gone are the ’60s style volumes, as 2025 gives way to more supple, lively waves—as seen on Sienna Miller, the poster girl for modern bohemian—for a more natural, effortless effect.

The key is to combine the blonde tone with cleaner, more modern cuts. Think about a long bob or shag a la Suki Waterhouse, bringing real structure to the face, or a choppy bob like Angèle to really tick of 2025’s beauty trend roster. Another option is the wet look, as seen on Candice Swanepoel, which provides the perfect contrast to highlight the more honey or sandy highlights. And if you want to keep things pared-back and classic, you can never go wrong with a mussed-up, shoulder-length look like Margot Robbie.Below, all the inspo pics you’ll need for your next visit to the hair salon.
