Slick suiting always has a place on the Hollywood red carpets—but this week, the best dressed stars proved that subverted tailoring can outshine just about any glitzy gown. Whether it was deconstructed blazers and skirts, or updated two-pieces, the looks that stood out this week were all about embracing a sense of polish without looking stuffy or too serious.

Jessica Alba, for one, reinvented the skirt suit in a blue leather Willy Chavarria set that felt refined and put-together—yet undeniably fun, too. Actor Zoë Kravitz also emerged from the Bowery Hotel wearing a pinstriped Saint Laurent suit vest and trousers—a more alluring take on suiting up.

In Ibiza, pop star Dua Lipa marked her 30th birthday with a custom Jacquemus look. The sequined gown, with extreme side cut-outs, was a more sexy take on beachy style—not to mention the perfect design for ringing in a birthday while on vacation. In New York, meanwhile, Margaret Qualley opted for a simple Chanel LBD for the premiere of her new film, Honey Don’t; the ensemble was both streamlined and timeless, proving that—sometimes—less is more!
