The fashion set descended on the British Museum in their droves on Saturday night for the institution’s inaugural ball. Supermodel Naomi Campbell, as well as Adwoa Aboah, Adot Gak, and Erin O’Connor MBE, were in attendance alongside dTim Walkeresigners such as Erdem Moralioglu, Roksanda Ilincic MBE, and photographer Tim Walker.

The world of entertainment was also well represented, with Janet Jackson, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Sir Mick Jagger, and Maya Jama all arriving at the pink-themed ball, which drew inspiration from the colors and light of India, and coincided with the museum’s major exhibition, Ancient India: Living Traditions.

Also on the pink carpet: London Mayor Sir Sadiq Khan, Dame Tracey Emin, Sir Grayson Perry, and Lioness Chloe Kelly.

“The British Museum Ball was intended to celebrate London – a city renowned for its arts, culture, creativity and style,” said director Dr Nicholas Cullinan OBE, who co-chaired the event with arts patron and businesswoman Isha Ambani. “Tonight’s event did just that by bringing together the actors, artists, collectors, creatives, designers, and writers that make our city a cultural powerhouse.”

It’s been a busy week in London—and suitably starry. Across the last few days, the art world descended on Frieze, a chance to celebrate the city’s world-beating arts and culture scene. Elsewhere, the red carpets were rolled out for a host of premieres at the BFI London Film Festival, from Pillion to Die, My Love. amfAR also hosted its first London-set gala, with $2.1 million across an evening that saw a riotous performance from Grace Jones avec her famous hula hoop. All this to say, the British capital deserves a slower Sunday.
