Skarsgård has been having a lot of fun incorporating flirty, fetish details into his wardrobe with stylist Lambert, who also dresses the likes of Josh O’Connor and Eddie Redmayne. He brought some much-needed sex appeal to the Cannes Film Festival red carpet earlier this year, in kinky boots and a naughty, boot-licking graphic vintage t-shirt; on British daytime television show Lorraine, he wore cheeky short-shorts and socks from S.S. Daly, doing a little twirl and a curtsey. “I wanted to be sexy today,” he told host Ranvir Singh. “And I thought there’s nothing sexier than a middle age man in a British school boy uniform.”
Appearing at the Zurich Film Festival earlier this month, the actor wore a white silk shirt with a gray graphic of dildos and butt plugs from Magliano, a Milanese label inspired by Italy’s 19th century queer subcultures.
A24’s steamy arthouse psychodrama Pillion tells the story of Ray (Skarsgård), the charismatic head of a motorcycle gang, who initiates the meek Colin (Harry Melling) into a submissive relationship. What’s to be expected? Prince Albert piercings (on a prosthetic!), naked wrestling, and stratospheric sexual tension and release.
He posed on the carpet with the rest of the cast—including a puppy mask-wearing Paul Tallis and adorable Maggie the Rottweiler—in front of a hulking motorcycle.
Real ones, though, will know his sexy sartorial side is longheld. At the 2016 MTV Movie Awards, a tuxedo-topped and pantsless A.S. was walked on a dog leash by Mia Goth.
Skarsgård previously told Variety that Pillion felt “so original” when he first read the script. “That’s quite rare. I’ve read great scripts where I’m like, ’This is great, but it reminds me of 10 films I’ve seen,’” Skarsgård said. “I was invited into this world with so much love and compassion, but [ Lighton] didn’t do it with too much reverence. Sometimes, when you portray a subculture, you’re so worried about offending [someone] or getting something wrong that you’re too precious about it. I immediately called my agents and said, ‘I wanna talk to this mad child.’”
Pillion hits theaters at the end of November, but rest assured Alexander Skarsgård will continue to let his freak flag fly.
