It is perhaps inevitable that Margherita Maccapani Missoni’s vision should bear the imprint of her family. Last season, she chose an apartment on the Rive Gauche in Paris, inherited from her grandmother Rosita. This time, however, the photoshoot set was a burchio from 1920—an ancient flat-bottomed vessel once used for river transport—which her grandfather Ottavio fell in love with in the early 1980s. Moored in Venice, it has always been a place of gathering and togetherness for the Missoni family

“It’s fashion that wraps around you, stays close, tells your story—and doesn’t fade over time. Like your strongest and most essential memories,” wrote Mariuccia Casadio, one of Italy’s most distinguished fashion voices, in a poetic note accompanying Maccapani’s spring 2026 collection. “My pieces are designed to converse with different worlds, becoming part of each individual’s life,” said Maccapani Missoni. Her aim is to simplify, resisting the fast-turnover mechanisms that encourage a fleeting use of clothes. This explains why her line carries a sense of continuity: the long-sleeved Moto T-shirt, for instance, is a practical expression of her refusal to reinvent everything with each passing season.

“When I design, I think about my own needs, those of a woman who leaves home in the morning knowing she will be out all day, who might change at the office before an aperitif, keeping a cocktail dress folded in her bag,” she explained. Among the staples were the Easy Pants—“the easiest trousers in the world”— and the Ita dress in three-tone jacquard jersey, its abstract motifs rendered in rose, taupe, and powder blue, lighter and more fluid than in previous collections. There were also deliberately deconstructed archetypes of femininity: corsetry reimagined for comfort and wearability; bodysuits, turtlenecks, and skirts that cling to the body like a second skin. No buttons, no zippers and, in the spirit of circularity, fabrics were crafted from no more than three yarns. In Maccapani’s universe, everything converges on the essence of a smart, effortless practicality, yet always up to date.
