When it comes to mastering the art of the travel wardrobe, it’s no surprise that our favorite fashion insiders also moonlight as packing pros. In My Packing Style, we tap some of the most well-traveled people we know for a peek inside their travel bags and vacation wardrobes to see how they take their style on the road. You’ve bookmarked the trip, you’ve screenshotted the outfits; now, a look at how it all comes together.

Blanca Miró Scrimieri loves a print. The Barcelona-based stylist and co-founder of La Veste has made a signature of playful patterns, bold color-blocking, and vintage-inspired details in her home and her wardrobe… so when it comes to her travel style, it only makes sense that her on-the-road essentials follow suit.

Case (pardon the pun) in point: The turquoise-and-cherry striped valise Miró picked out for a summer trip that started in the mountains of Spain, included a pit stop in the Hamptons, and ended in Menorca. “I chose it because it’s full of color and I thought the theme was playful,” she explains. “I loved it for the Hamptons—very East Coast, very me.”

A chronic overpacker—her words—she filled it with all sorts of cheery, colorful pieces. Included in the line-up? A pair of cream-and-crimson Prada crochet loafers, sculptural sunglasses in caramel acetate, green striped trousers straight out of a ’70s daydream—if you were looking for a blueprint for your own maximalist capsule wardrobe, hers is a good place to start.

Are you a pre-packer or a throw-in-and-go type?

I basically pre-pack everything I know I can play with, and then once I’m there, I create the looks. I always start by thinking about the destination and the vibe there; for example, in Menorca, my suitcase is full of loose dresses with a bohemian touch, straw hats, and baskets… it’s almost barefoot living. If I’m going to the countryside, then it’s browns, camels, and khakis. As for the Hamptons, I knew I needed stripes, boater hats, and colors like white, navy, and red—very East Coast.

Do you pack in outfits?

I always pack with a theme in mind, like I’m curating a little story in outfits. I lay everything on the bed first. If it doesn’t make me smile, it stays home.

Steamers: Yes or no?

I travel with my little Steamery handheld steamer; it’s the best travel companion. I roll some pieces instead of folding (it really saves space and wrinkles) and I also try to pack cotton knits, terrycloth, and other fabrics that don’t crease much.

What’s your go-to brand for vacation dressing?

La Veste, of course: I always design those pieces with traveling in mind. I also love Plan C, J. Crew, Kule for the best stripes, Eres for swimwear, Muuñ for timeless baskets, and always some vintage pieces.

What’s your go-to travel bag right now?

My giant striped canvas weekender fits everything and makes me feel like I’m starring in a ’60s seaside movie. Functional, fun, and very me.

Do you have a travel outfit formula?

Always something striped, always something oversized; cotton pants, a vintage men’s shirt, and espadrilles or ballerinas. Easy, but with personality.

What are your in-flight non-negotiables?

My monogram pouch by L’Uniform keeps me feeling organized and chic even when the flight is chaotic, and holds everything: passport, notebook, lip balm.

Team travel scarf or travel sweater?

Sweater. A striped one, bien sûr.

What are your vacation beauty product MVPs?

It’s minimal: a good hydrating mist from Tata Harper, lip balm from Augustinus Bader, and hand cream from Diptyque.

Do you have a strategy for approaching accessories?

I choose them almost like characters in a movie; each accessory sets the mood. A basket for daytime, a silk scarf for the evening, bold Delarge sunglasses to add personality… I don’t bring too many, just a few strong ones that can transform a simple outfit.

What has been your most-worn vacation item?

My Muuñ basket bag—I love how it looks with literally everything I wear. I also wear my Delarge sunglasses with everything. They’re timeless, a bit bold, and they instantly add character.

Overpacking or leaving room for souvenirs?

Overpacking, always.

What’s the best packing lesson you ever learned?

Think of the destination first, the weather, the mood, the typical colors and prints. Then build your suitcase around that.
