Well, that was a whirlwind: The 2025 Venice Film Festival has officially wrapped, and the annual event delivered plenty of buzzy film premieres—not to mention stellar red carpet moments. (There were even some new celebrity couple debuts, too, like Kaia Gerber and Lewis Pullman.)

For the past two weeks, Hollywood A-listers have touched down in the romantic Italian city and worn their finest formal wear for the occasion. They certainly understood the assignment, given Venice is one of the most glamorous cinema gatherings in the world; Stars such as Ayo Edebiri, Cate Blanchett, and Jacob Elordi all delivered slick, modern takes on evening dressing.

Compared to, say, the Oscars or the Cannes Film Festival, the fashion mood of Venice is always a little more playful—so while the ensembles were still elegant, they were also fresh and more unexpected. Blanchett, for one, slipped into an avant-garde Maison Margiela feathered creation; Colman Domingo traded in a traditional suit in favor of a silky-green robe coat; Myha’la went the Miu Miu cool-girl route in a red carpet tube top. These looks felt representative of their individual personalities, versus something their stylist simply slapped on them and called it a day.

Though, even the more classic black tie looks shined. In Chanel, Ayo Edebiri turned heads with her custom red strapless gown—not bad for her very first Venice festival. “You could feel how special it was and what a high level of craft went into it,” the star told Vogue of the look. Another stylish first-timer in the mix? Greta Lee, who donned a black satin gown with layers of green organza by Jonathan Anderson at Dior, complete with a plunging neckline. “The look was sculptural and bold but still had a sense of ease and movement that I loved. I felt empowered,” Lee told Vogue. Talk about wow factor.

Below, read on for the 11 best dressed stars from the 2025 Venice Film Festival.
