This fall, denim has once again taken center stage, with the low-rise jean stepping into the spotlight. Major campaigns are everywhere, flooding social media with all things denim: Addison Rae igniting Lucky’s revival, Gap’s Super Bowl-worthy “Better in Denim” commercial, and Sydney Sweeney leading American Eagle’s latest campaign. Celebrities have also embraced the nostalgic vibe for their off-duty wardrobes: Hailey Bieber mastering street style in Gap’s easy classics, Bella Hadid embracing “skin is in” trend,” and Addison Rae reviving millennial Y2K pop-star energy.

The message is clear: denim and the low waist are officially back.

Rooted in ’90s pop culture but reimagined for 2025, the silhouette dominated the fall runways. Stella McCartney presented baggy, slouched styles perfect for off-duty wear, Isabel Marant offered a sleeker, cropped capri cut, and Coach delivered a youthful interpretation with two-tone washes.

The trend’s styling versatility makes it irresistible, transforming low-rise denim into both a canvas and a closet staple. At Dolce & Gabbana and Stella McCartney, thick belts defined the look, while Isabel Marant and Acne Studios paired theirs with sharply pointed-toe boots. Kallymeyer elevated the style by contrasting baggy blue jeans with a shrunken blazer and tie. Across the board, this season’s collections reminded us that accessories are essential to the look, transforming low-rise denim into a modern statement rather than a nostalgic throwback.

The trend also nods to its close relative, the dropped waist dress, which appeared in the same season’s collections, hinting at a broader shift toward redefining silhouettes below the natural waistline. Unlike the ultra-skinny fits of the early 2000s, today’s versions favor baggy, straight, or relaxed fits—offering a more effortless approach while still tapping into Gen Z’s Y2K obsession.

Low-rise jeans are no longer just a nostalgic indulgence as we reminisce on the days of Paris Hilton and Britney Spears’ supremacy—they’ve reemerged as a wardrobe essential for Fall 2025. And for those ready to shop this season’s revival trend, the market is overflowing with must-have options waiting to be styled your way.
