Situated between Tulum’s powdery white sands and its lush jungle canopy, La Valise Tulum offers a boutique stay where rustic design meets contemporary luxury. The hotel’s 22 suites are split between oceanfront villas and jungle hideaways: On the beach, signature rolling beds slide onto private terraces so you can fall asleep under the stars, while in the jungle, plunge pools and sky showers offer secluded sanctuaries surrounded by palms. Guests can truly lean into the slow life here. Try sunbathing at the jungle pool, drifting into a relaxing treatment at the spa, or indulging in a candlelit dinner at NÜ Tulum, where a collective of chefs transforms locally sourced, organic ingredients into inventive dishes and cocktails that capture the flavors of the region.

  • Amenities: Beachfront and jungle suites, rolling beds, plunge pools, beachfront dining, spa
  • Address: Carr. Tulum-Boca Paila Km 8.7, Tulum Beach, 77760 Tulum, Q.R.

Originally a private villa built by a Belgian designer and British artist, XELA has been transformed into a 12-room boutique hotel that retains the intimacy of its original home thanks to a mindful renovation by architect Carlos Larios. The oceanfront property, with its towering central palapa and sunken living room lounge, blends elemental minimalism with beachy sand-and-tangerine hues and seamless indoor-outdoor living. Guests can enjoy morning swims in one of two pools or a yoga session on the rooftop—it’s the highest point on Tulum’s beach road, offering panoramic views of sea and jungle—before drifting into a beachfront meal of modern Mexican dishes made with local organic ingredients like beetroot hummus, passionfruit ceviche, and yellowfin tuna tiradito. While the hotel offers two private spa cabins and in-room treatments, as a sister property to La Valise Tulum, guests can also enjoy La Valise Spa’s Maya-inspired rituals and sound healing ceremonies.
