Kendall Jenner is no stranger to the flip-flop. A longtime thong sandal crusader, Jenner has styled the controversial shoe with everything from trousers and tanks to glittering night-out dresses.

Today was no exception. The model styled her beloved shoe with a red cropped crewneck tee and a pair of crisp, indigo straight-legged mid-rise jeans, along with a black leather tote bag. But there was something slightly different about her go-to look: in place of her usual slim silhouette was a chunkier strap and sole.

Jenner has typically championed ultra-thin thong sandals from The Row, pairing the shoe with everything from a summery red mini dress to a date night bustier and midi skirt—though she most reliably styles her sandals with basics, from preppy button-ups to jeans and a tee. But now, while she’s keeping her normcore style, she may be moving onto the next sandal du jour. Worry not, even as thicker flip-flops are fast on the rise, Jenner is still wearing The Row, swapping her slim sandals for the in-demand Dune model.

Kendall Jenner isn’t the only one in on the trend: her sister Kylie recently road-tested a pair of towering platforms from Los Angeles brand ERL. The Jenner sisters aren’t alone: Nicola Peltz-Beckham has tested platform sandals, Rosé plodded around New York in thick-soled shoes, and Jonathan Bailey even hit the red carpet in the Dune flip-flops. As the specter of fall looms, let’s see how thick these babies can get before the temperatures drop.
