A copper pixie, though, feels like something new, a blend of two of the most popular styles of the last 12 months. “It’s the warmth of it,” Dean Harris, colorist at Larry King Marylebone, explains to me when I ask why copper is still so in demand. “Copper catches the light and almost glows, which makes it instantly eye-catching. On a pixie cut, it looks fresh, modern and full of personality.”
Before lopping off your hair and dyeing it, there are a few things to consider. “Commitment is key,” says Harris. “Copper looks amazing, but it needs looking after, and it can be a tricky color to shift if you change your mind. It becomes part of your whole look, so you want to be ready to embrace it fully.”
“A transformation can feel amazing, but it’s not for everyone,” Samuel continues. He suggests having a good chat with your stylist before cutting anything. They’ll be able to help you understand if your hair will be easy to style short or if it might require more effort day-to-day.
When it comes to finding the right copper for you, Harris suggests looking at your natural undertone in order to pick the best shade for your skin. “Warm skin suits fiery-gold coppers, while cooler undertones look best with soft rose or amber tones,” he explains. “It’s about finding the right balance so the shade enhances, rather than overwhelms.” Tinting your eyebrows a soft copper, as Palmer has, brings the whole thing together, says Samuel.
